“ROXBORO ELKS HOLDS 52ST ANNUAL SENIOR LADIES NIGHT”

By: Derrick Sims

On Friday, May 11th, the Roxboro Elks held its 52st Annual Senior Ladies Night. About 60 widows in the community enjoyed a relaxed evening of fellowship with one another while being treated to dinner and prizes by members of the Roxboro Elks lodge. This special event has been held each year on the Friday before Mother’s Day since 1966. Many members consider this project their favorite. The dinner was held at the lodge where members where in the parking lot to greet attendees as they arrived and assisted them with parking.

Once inside, each woman received an envelope with $10.00 cash in it. Later in the evening, tickets were drawn for more cash prizes and the potted geraniums decorating the table. Member and other volunteers served attendees dinner and desert. The evening wound down with more mingling as everyone collected their prizes and some their carefully wrapped leftovers. The Roxboro Elks look forward to continuing with the tradition of this project for many more years to come.
