Calabash Donates to Veterans Welcome Home

The Calabash Elks Lodge Veteran’s Affairs Committee recently made a $3,500.00 donation to the “Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center” located in Little River, SC. This donation will allow the Center to financially assist at least seven veterans with rent, utility payments, food, and basic necessities.

“CALABASH ELKS DONATE $2,000 TO BRUNSWICK FAMILY ASSISTANCE”

~ Helping Fund Assistance for Veterans in Brunswick County, NC During COVID-19 Crisis ~

The Veteran’s Affairs Committee (VAC) of the Calabash Elks Lodge ~ 2679 recently donated $2,000.00 to Brunswick Family Assistance (BFA), to help fund assistance provided to Veterans in Brunswick County, NC. VAC donations in the past three years to the BFA “Veterans Fund,” dedicated to helping Veterans, now totals $14,000. The Elks National Foundation, the Charitable arm of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, provided the funds to the VAC under a special “Spotlight Grant” that permits direct donations to needy veterans’ organizations during the COVID-19 crisis.  The BFA will use the funds to help resident veterans needing assistance with rent, utilities, food supplies, home maintenance, and similar emergency expenses.

Brunswick Family Assistance (BFA), Headquartered in Shallotte, NC, with a new location in Leland, NC, is dedicated to improving the lives of families, Veterans, and individuals in crisis in Brunswick County, who are willing to help themselves, by providing emergency assistance and educational and skills development programs.  BFA is a transformative, forward-looking and collaborative organization that helps Veterans and low-income people in Brunswick County to live a high quality of life, by providing access to an adequate and nutritious supply of food, and sufficient resources to sustain themselves. John Bullock Continues Father’s Legacy as Elks State President

Person County native John Bullock was installed as the 121st President of the North Carolina State Elks Association in late June. His father, William Bullock was elected State President of the Elks for the 1996-97 year.

They become the first father-son duo to be elected President in the History of the North Carolina State Elks Association. John has served in many different capacities in the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks. He currently serves as Exalted Ruler of Roxboro Lodge #2005 which is his fourth year in that role. He has served as District Vice President for East Central District, Esquire to the District Deputy and District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler. He was elected unanimously as President-Elect at the 2019 North Carolina Spring Elks Convention in Wilmington.
