The North Wilkesboro Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge # 1846 is proud to announce the 2019 scholarship winners from awards presentations held at the North Wilkesboro Lodge on Sunday May 19th.
Most Valuable Student Scholarship award from the North Carolina State Elks Association went to James Burcham of East Wilkes High School. The Most Valuable Student award is a nationwide program administered each year by Elks National Foundation.
In addition to the national program, the North Wilkesboro Lodge awarded a local scholarship to a graduating senior at each of the County high schools. This year’s award winners are Samantha O’Grady from the Wilkes Early College High School, Hannah Gentry from East Wilkes, Colby Roal at North Wilkes, William Walker, West Wilkes, and Miranda McNeil from Wilkes Central.
The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks is a charitable Fraternal Order dedicated to community service. The North Wilkesboro Lodge, chartered is 1952, remains active in community service today sponsoring programs like Hoop Shoot, Scholarship Awards, youth baseball, Veterans programs, and other benevolent activities in the community.
