“CALABASH ELKS DONATE $2,000 TO BRUNSWICK FAMILY ASSISTANCE”
~ Helping Fund Assistance for Veterans in Brunswick County, NC During COVID-19 Crisis ~

The Veteran’s Affairs Committee (VAC) of the Calabash Elks Lodge ~ 2679 recently donated $2,000.00 to Brunswick Family Assistance (BFA), to help fund assistance provided to Veterans in Brunswick County, NC. VAC donations in the past three years to the BFA “Veterans Fund,” dedicated to helping Veterans, now totals $14,000. The Elks National Foundation, the Charitable arm of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, provided the funds to the VAC under a special “Spotlight Grant” that permits direct donations to needy veterans’ organizations during the COVID-19 crisis. The BFA will use the funds to help resident veterans needing assistance with rent, utilities, food supplies, home maintenance, and similar emergency expenses.
Brunswick Family Assistance (BFA), Headquartered in Shallotte, NC, with a new location in Leland, NC, is dedicated to improving the lives of families, Veterans, and individuals in crisis in Brunswick County, who are willing to help themselves, by providing emergency assistance and educational and skills development programs. BFA is a transformative, forward-looking and collaborative organization that helps Veterans and low-income people in Brunswick County to live a high quality of life, by providing access to an adequate and nutritious supply of food, and sufficient resources to sustain themselves. The mission of the Veteran’s Affairs Committee of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Lodge ~ 2679, is to provide occasional funding, fraternal activities, and general support for our local Veterans, various Veteran’s Programs, and our Military located throughout the South-Eastern North Carolina area, as well as for our Retired and Wounded Warriors located in the Fort Bragg area of Fayetteville, NC, and Camp LeJeune in Jacksonville, NC.
