Who Are the North Carolina State Elks?

The North Carolina State Elks Association is a vital part of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) of the United States of America. Founded in 1868, the Elks is one of the nation’s oldest and largest fraternal organizations, dedicated to serving communities, supporting veterans, and investing in youth development.

While Elks Lodges may be known for their clubhouses, golf courses, or recreational pools, the heart of these lodges is far more profound. They serve as gathering places for neighbors, provide a space for families to share meals, and are pillars in their local communities. More importantly, they work to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families by creating opportunities for growth, support, and connection.

State Major Projects

The North Carolina State Elks Association (NCSEA) proudly supports major charitable projects that reflect the Elks’ long-standing commitment to service, compassion, and community.

Supporting North Carolina State Veterans Homes
One of the NCSEA’s primary initiatives is caring for our veterans. Each year, the Association works closely with State Veterans Home Directors to identify needs and provide funding that helps ensure these facilities are properly equipped to support the health, emotional, and social well-being of those who have served our nation. This commitment is fulfilled through an annual state budget approved by the membership.

Camp Carefree
The NCSEA is also a proud supporter of Camp Carefree in Stokesdale, North Carolina. Camp Carefree provides a safe, welcoming environment where children with chronic illnesses or disabilities—and their siblings, as well as children of parents facing serious health challenges—can experience the joy of a traditional camp. Through ongoing evaluation and financial support, the NCSEA helps ensure Camp Carefree can continue offering these life-changing experiences to families across our state.
