President’s Message – Spring 2019
I am honored to serve as President of the NC State Elks Association for the upcoming year! I would like to thank all of you for your support. Phil and I are looking forward to our travel around the great state of North Carolina this year. Please let us know if you are planning a special event at your Lodge and we will do our best to attend. I would like to thank Ron & Lisa Delzer for setting such a great example for us. Their dedication and participation in events throughout the past year has been remarkable.
This year our State Association is 80 years old! The first President was PC Smith – from the High Point Lodge! So now High Point has the honor of having the first female President as well. Way to go High Point!!
My message for the upcoming year is “Together We Can”. I want to focus on Lodges working together. I have always been a strong supporter of visiting other Lodges and “stealing” ideas. I think it’s very important that we support each other’s events and learn from each other.
One example is the Camp Carefree Gala. While this event takes place at the Greensboro Lodge, there are members from several Lodges on the committee. Without the collaboration of these Lodges, the Gala could not be as successful as it is.
I am challenging every Lodge to partner up for some type of event. I am also challenging every district to work together to help out your smaller or struggling Lodges.
There are so many opportunities for us to work together. There are golf tournaments, bike rides, fundraisers, veterans’ services, Hoop Shoots, National Youth Week, membership drives, initiations – the list is endless. Let’s pool our resources to make a bigger impact in our communities and work together to grow our North Carolina Lodges and membership.
Fraternally,
Shari Driscoll, NCSEA President
